Summary of the Discontinued and Sale Items ❤️

Super excited that my Discontinued and Sale Items are dwindling down! I have a couple of bases I want to introduce in 2018 and my Online Shop only allows me so many tabs for products before I have to Up my plan! So hence the decision of what direction I wanted to go with my business! It also helps me pear down my inventory so I can continue making the products I love to make most ❤️

This is it for the BFL Sock! I’m down to my last 15 Skeins and there are only 5 colorways left! I’m going to be discontinuing BFL Sock as the Base has quite a bit of variance from batch to batch when I order.

Top to Bottom: Gourd, Siren, Valley Of the Five Lakes and Sea Urchin

Right: Blue Morpho Butterfly

I’m also down to the last few Kelmscott Embroidery Scissors! I’ve decided to discontinue them as they are becoming readily available at all yarn shops and scissors are more of a fit to feel item! Each type of scissors has a different feel to them.

A highlight of the more tradional Silver and Gold Scissors I have left. Most have 1-2 left in each type!

And a highlight of what’s left for the Flower Power and Little Loves Scissors! Most have just 1 left!

I’m down to the last 15 kinds of Brass Progress Keepers! Most have 1 or 2 left! They are SALE priced at $4 each and qualify for Lettermail shipping if they are ordered with other Notions ❤️

There’s also the last of the $2 Sale Progress Keepers! There’s 14 kinds left and a good portion of them have 1-3 left!

There is also a few Snagless Stitch Marker Sets available! There are 7 types of Snagless Stitch Markers and 5 our of the 7 only have 1 left of each instock! I will be doing a small update sometime this year with whatever minerals I have left but it might not a be a large amount of Stitch Marker sets available!

And last but not least, I listed a very limited amount of I ❤️ Big Balls Enamel Pins by Brick Bubble!

They were in the Prairie Dye Studio Christmas Advent Calendar and I exclusively had them in there and not my Online Shop until the Calendar was done. I had to order a certain amount to get Wholesale pricing so the remaining amount were listed today! As of right now there’s only 2 left and once they are gone, they are gone. I won’t be stocking Pins in my Online Shop anymore.

Phew, that was a lot ❤️ So many goodies to be had in my Online Shop for while they last! Shop link is HERE if you want to check it out. The Big Balls Pins are listed with the Needle Gauges until they sell outπŸ˜„

Also, there’s no need for Prairie Dye Studio customers to worry❤️ I usually change up my Online Shop a bit at the end of each year so I can move forward in the direction I want to go for the upcoming year. I’m not the kind of person that likes doing the same thing repetitively and I like to change things up for where I am in that moment in my lifeπŸ˜„

2018 will the the year of color and creativity for me. There will be a couple more bases introduced, my Progress Keeper supply will be smaller, and my Project Bag supply will have some additions to it throughout the year. I’ve introduced Free Shipping for Canadian Orders over $200 and Free Shipping for USA Orders over $250.

Thanks so much for all your Love and Support ❤️ Every customer and supportive person help me to to do what I love to do for my business. Thank You ❤️

Happy New Year!!

Every year I struggle with coming up with a New Years Resolution. Most years I choose not to have one. It adds extra pressure to accomplish something πŸ˜‚

-Losing weight. No way. If eating the food I want when I’m hungry keeps me happy, then I guess I’m going to be 10-20lbs overweight πŸ˜‚ Love handles are in right πŸ˜‚

-Getting more fit. Takes away from my knitting time and if there’s one think I hate, it’s running. I only run when someone is chasing me. My idea of stress relief is knitting with a coffee/tea/wine/whiskey. Maybe a couple pieces of chocolate. Obviously the wine/whiskey if for after the kiddos go to bed for the night πŸ˜†

- Knitting goals. Nope. I have knitting ADHD and have a hard time focusing on 1 Project for a long period of time. I usually have anywhere up to 10 WIPs in the go at any given time.

The only goal I’ve decided to put in place is to have more Family Outings with my Husband and Kiddos. It’s too easy to stay home and relax but then we’re not doing the Family Bonding thing and that’s how memories are created. Plus 99.9% of the time it’s fun πŸ˜„

There’s always the time when you realize, “now I know what my parents went through on Family Outings”. Or, “now I know why my dad was so grouchy on Family Outings” πŸ˜†. Which is bound to happen when you have 2 kiddos fighting in the back seat. Even on the Outings where I was emotionally spent after, they were funny or positive memories!

So that’s my goal for 2018!

There will also be a couple business goals I’ll have for myself but I consider that a business plan for 2018 and basically it just gives me a general direction for my business. There will be a few things discontinued and refining a few other things but, overall, Prairie Dye Studio will remain the same.

I’ll be doing 4 events a year and my updates will happen sporadically. If I sew up some bags they’ll be listed. If I Dye up some skeins, all the skeins will be listed.

I’ve been experientating with new dyeing techniques, so some old colorways will be updated sometime this year.

The biggest personal change for me in 2018 is the choice to start homeschooling my oldest. Anyone that knows me knows that if I have something on my mind, your going to hear it. Unfiltered. So when I find out that my daughters pre-k teacher was witholding her lunch after previous conversations, emails ect there is an issue. I had told the teacher a few times via verbally and via email that if my daughter doesn’t eat or doesn’t eat enough protein based foods that she gets ornery. Like myself. I have a feeling that she was trying to force her to adhere to her fruit / veggie snack and not to allow my daughter to eat her sandwich and fruit/veggie portion. I had to speak to the school board about this. Not fun! That was an eye opener for me.

I wish I could tell you this was it, but it isn’t. There were issues with her not wanting my daughter to dress up as a dinosaur to school for Halloween as well. So I asked my daughter if she wanted to dress up to school and she said yes. So I told the teacher, she’s going to dress up as a dinosaur for Halloween. The teacher had the school board speak to me about this. Seriously, a public school.  So after this long, long discussion,  my daughter could dress up.

I think the most disturbing thing is that they didn’t care that my child wasn’t getting her food but that she wanted to dress up as a dinosaur for halloween. This to me is severely messed up. The funny thing is that the school board coordinator remembers me from the parent orientations and me voicing my concerns about them forcing the only fruit / veggies for their snack πŸ˜†

So shortly after Halloween I started noticing personality changes in my child. Withdrawn, not wanting to go to school, no eye contact with the teacher. So I asked her if she wanted a new class with a new teacher and new friends. She said yes. So I called the school division to find out if there was a class I could move my child to that doesn’t have this teacher and the teacher doesn’t control the food. There is none. None in this school division. So I had no choice but to drop my child out of pre kindergarten. This is after just under 2m of school.  The last month has done wonders for my child and she’s been slowly telling me of what was said to her. I am not a happy camper. If a child can’t confide to their parents, who can they talk to?

The one thing I am grateful for is that I have an open line of communication with my kiddos and I am a present parent. I caught this personality change relatively quickly over 2 weeks and immediately took charge. When I contacted the school board they wanted to know why I was wanting to move my child but they didn’t want to offer any solutions. They just wanted me to conform. I was told, “I know it’s hard to hand over control of your child to the teacher”. Then I said I wanted to drop my child out bc something was wrong and if there are no classes available that this teacher doesn’t teach or the teacher doesn’t control the snack/ lunch options. I was told, “well just between the 2 of us Mrs._____ is going on maternity leave in a month. Can’t you just wait a month? Then there will be another teacher”. Word for Word. Seriously! Same snack situation though.

Like, I am completely dumb founded. They were not open to hearing what my child had went through.

Because of this situation, I am committed to homeschooling my children. There will be some adjustments to my business after the Prairie Fibre Festival in September 2018 but it will mostly be how much stock I can Dye up or sew up. So my inventory may be a little bit reduced during this time of adjustment.

Thanks so much for your support and understanding ❤️
